The Yacht Club de Monaco invites the Captains of  the Captains’ Club to participate to a Ski Weekend in Auron, from Friday 5^th to Sunday 7^th march 2010.

Programme (pending modifications):

Friday 5^th March:

Ski day  for the participants.

9.00 – Breakfast at meeting point (Ski Pass)

- Ski day by level of ability

- Lunch at «  la Bergerie »

- Mulled Wine on slopes

- Dinner

Saturday 6 ^th March:

Ski day  for the participants.

9.00 -Breakfast at meeting point (Ski Pass)

14.00 -  Starting of the « Captain’s Slalom Race » organized by ESF

- 21.00 – Dinner and prize-giving of the « Captain Slalom » of the Captains’ Club of the Yacht Club de Monaco.

The bets are down!

Within the framework of its partnership with the Yacht Club, the Société des Bains de Mer (SBM) had invited about forty captains and their wives in the lounges of the prestigious Casino de Monte Carlo to introduce them to the rudiments of Black jack and the Punto Banco.

A very exclusive evening which ended with a dinner to celebrate the Festive Holidays Season in the cellars of the Hotel de Paris, with – supreme privilege – a private visit of the biggest cellars of Europe.

Dans le cadre de son partenariat avec le Yacht Club, la Société des Bains de Mer a convié une quarantaine de capitaines de super-yachts et leurs épouses dans les salons du prestigieux Casino de Monte Carlo afin de les initier aux rudiments du Black Jack et du Punto Banco.

Une soirée très exclusive qui s’est achevée par un dîner de fin d’année dans les caves de l’Hôtel de Paris, avec – privilège suprême -  l’organisation d’une visite privée des plus grandes caves d’Europe.

Within the framework of the Monaco Yacht Show, the Yacht Club de Monaco organized the 11^th edition of Captains’ Days, a morning of conferences, dedicated to the captains of superyachts and organized in association with The Yacht Report.

The first conference:
« a collective consciousness: Grenelles de la Mer, Indemer and Marpol annex V and VI »

In continuity to the Grenelle for the environment, which aimed at devising new actions to insure sustainable development, Grennelles de la Mer prolong this initiative by being focusing particularly on the sectors of the maritime and coastal activities. On July 10^th and 15^th, meetings chaired by Mr Jean-Louis Borlo, Minister of State, Minister for Ecology, Energy,  sustainable development and the sea of the French government, allowed to confirm a series of propositions in favor of the protection of  biodiversity, development of the marine energies and sustainable fishing.
This first conference thus allowed to gather personalities’ panel, including Mr. Jean-Louis Bissuel, Director of the Maritime affairs of Monaco, Mrs Armelle Roudaut-Lafon, Director of the Maritime affairs of the Alpes-Maritimes, Mr. Laurent Lucchini, President of Scientist Council of the Indemer, Mr. Gérard Siguier, Auditor to Security issues, safety mission defense, who came to present all the conclusions drawn in the  » blue Book of the commitments on Grenelles de la Mer made public on July 28^th of this year.

The three previous meetings of Grenelles de la Mer reviewed all the subjects and the various action plans to protect the sea through marine energies, financing of the maritime actions, to how valuing making attractive the sea related professions.

The second conference:
« Piracy in the 21^st century ».

Another news item, that of the piracy, with the intervention of commander Olivier Texier, Deputy Company Security Officer, Maritime Legal Expert CMA-CGM and Mr. Gérard Siguier, Auditor to Security issues, mission safety defense. Having presented the geographical distribution of the world piracy, the Commander Texier presented a panel of the various measures of safety applicable on ships followed by the functioning of the European operation Atalanta, himself insuring there regularly representation of the French Army Force.

Subsenquently, Mr Delfau, jurist and safety expert, detailed the concrete case of the hostage of Ponant sailboat in April, 2008, the attack of the ship at his liberation, by illustrating it with numerous photos.

Dans le cadre du Monaco Yacht Show, le Yacht Club de Monaco a organisé la 11^e édition du Captains’ Day, une matinée de conférences, dédiées aux capitaines de superyachts, organisée en collaboration avec The Yacht Report.

Première conférence :
« Une conscience collective : le Grenelle de la Mer, Indemer et Marpol annexes V et VI»

Dans la continuité du Grenelle de l’environnement, qui visait à définir de nouvelles actions pour assurer un développement durable, le Grenelle de la mer prolonge cette démarche, en s’intéressant plus particulièrement aux secteurs des activités maritimes et côtières. Les 10 et 15 juillet, la tenue de tables rondes, présidées par Mr Jean-Louis Borloo, ministre d’Etat, ministre de l’écologie, de l’énergie, du développement durable et de la mer du gouvernement français, a permis d’entériner une série de propositions en faveur notamment de la protection de la biodiversité, du développement des énergies marines ou encore d’une pêche durable.

Cette première conférence a donc permis de réunir un panel de personnalités, composé de M. Jean-Louis Bissuel, Directeur des Affaires Maritimes de Monaco, Mme Armelle Roudaut-Lafon, Directeur des Affaires Maritimes des Alpes Maritimes, M. Laurent Lucchini, Président du Conseil Scientifique de l’Indemer, M. Gérard Siguier, Auditeur sécurité, mission sureté défense, qui sont venues présenter l’ensemble des conclusions retranscrites dans le « Livre bleu des engagements sur le Grenelle de la mer » rendu public le 28 juillet dernier.

Les 3 tables rondes précedentes du Grenelle de la Mer, ont exposé tous les thèmes et les différents plans d’actions pour préserver la mer en allant des énergies marines, aux financement des actions maritimes, jusqu’à comment valoriser et rendre attractifs les métiers de la mer.

Deuxième conférence :
« La Piraterie au XXI siècle ».

Autre sujet d’actualité, celui de la piraterie, avec l’intervention du commandant Olivier Texier, Deputy Company Security Officer, Expert Juridique Maritime CMA-CGM et M. Gérard Siguier, Auditeur sécurité, mission sûreté défense.Après avoir évoqué la répartition géographique de la piraterie mondiale, le Commandant Texier a présenté un panel des différentes mesures de sureté applicables sur les navires puis le fonctionnement de l’opération européenne Atalanta, lui-même y assurant régulièrement la représentation des armements français.

Dans un deuxième temps, M. Delfau, juriste et expert surete, a détaillé le cas concret de la prise d’otage du voilier de croisière Le Ponant en avril 2008, de l’attaque du navire à sa libération, en l’illustrant avec de nombreuses photos.

The Captains take the plunge!    

A few days away from the beginning of the high season and for the second consecutive year, the YCM invited yachts captains « to exchange », for a weekend, their superyacht and participate in a friendly regatta on J/24s, a small 7,63 m of a cabin boat. The opportunity for some Captains to leave their lever and navigation instruments of their impressive units to find the sensations and the sharpness of the adjustments. A regatta taken very seriously, because numerous crews had wished to train before the event, such as Lady Ann PB (69 m) who had planned to go away with a victory. Who would have believed it? Lady Moura’s crew, lead by Matthias Bosse, the 105m superyacht’s crew surprised everyone by taking the lead in overall in front of Independence’s, a 53m sailboat helmed by THE KP (Editor’s Note: Kerry Piesch) while Appassionata’s, helmed by Serge Perez took third place.

Les Capitaines se jettent à l’eau !

A quelques jours du début de la pleine saison et pour la deuxième année consécutive, le YCM a invité les capitaines de yachts à troquer le temps d’un week-end, leur super-yacht pour participer à une régate conviviale en J/24… un petit habitable de 7,63 m. L’occasion pour certains de lâcher leurs manettes et instruments de navigation de leur imposante unité pour retrouver les sensations en directe et la finesse des réglages. Une régate prise très au sérieux, puisque de nombreux équipages avaient souhaité s’entraîner en amont de l’épreuve, à l’instar du Lady Ann PB (69 m) qui comptait bien décrocher un résultat.

Qui l’aurait cru ? L’équipage de Lady Moura, un super-yacht à moteur de 105 m, emmené par Matthias Bosse, crée la surprise. Il s’impose au général devant celui d’Independance, un voilier de 53 m avec à la barre l’incontournable KP (NDLR : Kerry Piesch) alors que Appassionata, skippé par Serge Perez s’empare de la troisième place du podium.

Full speed ahead!

Amateurs of spray and speed, be it offshore or on the snowy tracks, they were about twenty Captains coming to participate in this first ski weekend in Auron. Between two mulled wines, the members of the Captains’ Club raced in a Super G track set up solely for their pleasure and entertainment. The victory went to Sylvain Staels, whilst the “best performer” title went to Patrick Troin; Jacques Conzales, recognized as the best entertainer, was awarded the “best fall on one’s face » prize!

Tout Schuss !

Amateurs de glisse et de vitesse…, que ce soit en mer ou sur les pistes enneigées, ils étaient une vingtaine de capitaines venus participer à ce premier week-end de ski à Auron. Entre deux vins chauds, les membres du Captains’ Club ont concouru dans une épreuve de Super G, spécialement organisée pour eux et qui a été remportée par Sylvain Staels ; tandis que le prix du « meilleur performeur » a été remis à Patrick Troin ; Jacques Conzales, qui a assuré le spectacle, s’est vu remettre celui « de la plus belle gamelle » !
